Ben Miller
Timpani Fundamentals
Dr. Ben F. Miller is professor of music at Marshall University in Huntington, West Virginia, where he serves as percussion instructor and assistant director of bands and is a member of the MU jazz faculty. A native of Joliet, Illinois, he received his bachelor's degree from Indiana University and master's degree as well as his doctoral degree from the University of Iowa. Miller is the former timpanist and principal percussionist with the West Virginia Symphony and Cedar Rapids Symphony and serves in a similar capacity with the Huntington Symphony and Huntington Pops Orchestra. As a freelance performer, he is active in the tri-state region of West Virginia, Kentucky, and Ohio. A popular guest artist, conductor, clinician, and adjudicator, Miller has presented concerts and clinics throughout the United States. He is a member of the PAS Education Committee and the PAS College Pedagogy Committee.
