Born in Seoul, Korea in 1980, Mi Youne Kim graduated from Chung Ang University in 2003 and from the National Regional Conservatory–Paris (CNR-Paris) in 2005. Currently, she is in the middle of her postgraduate studies at the Royal Conservatoire Antwerp. Kim was the winner of the 2007 Universal Marimba Competition and Festival held in Belgium. In addition to her various awards and accolades as a solo artist, she has been a member of the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra since 2005 and the Marimba Masters Ensemble since 2007.
