Oak Mountain High School now in its ninth year is located in Birmingham, Alabama. The instrumental music program at Oak Mountain enjoys the balance of year round concert, jazz, and percussion ensembles as well as a tradition of marching band excellence in the fall. The students of the Oak Mountain High School Percussion Ensemble have received superior ratings each of the last three years at the local concert percussion festival. The ensemble was selected to perform on the Alabama Day of Percussion in 2006. Individual students have been very successful in Alabama All-State Band auditions. The Oak Mountain High School Percussion Ensemble is now in its fourth year under the direction of Kevin Ownby. Kevin Ownby received a master of music degree in percussion performance from the University of Colorado-Boulder and a bachelor of music degree in music education from Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama.
