John Wittmann

Wittmann

John Wittmann is the education department manager for the band and orchestral division of Yamaha Corporation of America. He is responsible for organizing the educational support for over 600 woodwind, brass, string, and percussion artists as well as running the educational programs such as Sounds of Summer and Yamaha Young Performing Artists. He has also served as manager of the percussion department as well as manager of “Music In Education,” a computer based general music curriculum product. Wittmann also produced the Living Legends Video Series for Yamaha. He holds a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in music education with concentrations in conducting, percussion and composition. Wittmann has toured extensively throughout the United States and abroad and has given hundreds of drumset clinics. He remains an active performer and clinician. Currently, he is the drummer for the Jennie DeVoe Band. Previous to his duties at Yamaha, Wittmann taught percussion and jazz at Lawrence Central High School in Indianapolis, Indiana.
